Kosor was speaking to reporters after the parliamentary group of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) met on Wednesday morning to discuss the decision by the party's Presidency of Tuesday night to remove her and Seks from the posts of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

"After the HDZ's election convention I resigned as chair of the parliamentary group because I think that it is a political function that should be filled by the party's president, but I will not resign as Deputy Speaker of Parliament," Kosor said, adding that she wanted to participate in a parliamentary debate on it. "It will be a chance for me to say something, first and foremost, to give my advice to young politicians. I think my experience may be of use to other people, not necessarily from our party," she added.

Kosor admitted she was hurt by the Presidency's decision, but when asked if she felt naive, she replied in the negative. "I don't feel naive, but it seems to me that I wasn't calculating enough in my political work, and as party president I certainly did trust many people unconditionally."

Kosor said that deputy speakers of parliament were doyens and that she was one of them. She said that she had served as HDZ President and as Prime Minister, honourably doing her job in the worst of times for the HDZ when senior party officials and the party itself were indicted for corruption.

Kosor said she was not considering leaving the HDZ, but added that she regarded the HDZ Presidency's decision as a punishment. When asked if she felt betrayed, she said: "No, I don't feel betrayed by anyone."
