Karlovacka Banka (KABA) on Wednesday denied media allegations that the company Romah, which was owned until 2011 by Marija Rohatinski, the wife of the then Croatian National Bank (HNB) governor, used to enjoy preferential status as a client of the bank.

The Karlovacka Banka spokesman, Marijan Bakic, told the press that according to the data possessed by the KABA on its customers, there was no mention of Ramah.

Bakic said that Ramah had been neither a client nor had been given any loan under preferential terms and conditions

According to the media speculation, an investigation which the Croatian prosecutorial authorities launched into the alleged murky dealings in KABA, has been expanded to include the central bank's former governor, Zeljko Rohatinski.

Earlier in the day, Zeljko Rohatinski also denied such allegations in an interview with the national radio.

According to the Jutarnji List daily, the investigators are trying to establish whether there were any connections between Rohatinski, when he used to be at the helm of the central bank and KABA and whether the central bank gave a greenlight to highly risky loans issued by KABA.
