The government on Thursday forwarded a proposal to the supervisory board of the HEP national power provider to replace the current management board chairman, Zlatko Koracevic, and board members Rodoljub Lalic and Tomislav Seric and to appoint Seric as the successor to Koracevic, according to a press release issued by the government's public relations office after the cabinet's closed door meeting.

Perica Jukic was nominated as a new member of the HEP management board.

Asked by reporters on the changes in the HEP leadership, Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak said later in the day that the company was faced with great challenges such as the enforcement of the third energy package and the implementation of large-scale capital investments.

"Those challenges should be addressed in the coming years and therefore together we found the best solutions and personnel who are believed to be capable of meeting those requirements," Vrdoljak said.

The cabinet of Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic also accepted the resignation of Deputy Tourism Minister Oleg Valjalo at his personal request.
