A panel of judges of the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina upheld the verdict of the Croatian Supreme Court in the war crimes case against Branimir Glavas and immediately after that, Glavas was arrested and is now in the court's detention unit, court spokesperson Selma Hadzic confirmed to Hina on Wednesday.
"The panel of judges of the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina upheld the verdict sentencing Branimir Glavas to eight years in prison, and the State Court yesterday (Tuesday) ruled that Glavas be placed in custody in line with the country's legislation which envisages setting detention for persons sentenced to five or more years in prison," said Hadzic.
Glavas has the right to appeal the custody ruling within three days from its receipt, and he may appeal the ruling confirming his Croatian verdict within 30 days from receiving the ruling.
If he appeals against the latter ruling, the appeal will be considered by the Bosnian Appellate Court and its decision will be final.
Glavas was arrested on Tuesday evening in Drinovci, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he has been living since a Zagreb court found him guilty of war crimes against Serb civilians in Osijek in 1991.
