A Dutch Transavia Boeing 737-800 aircraft made an emergency landing at Zagreb airport around 1.30am on Saturday after smoke appeared in the passenger cabin, airport authorities said.

All 192 passengers, flying from Egypt to Amsterdam, have been accommodated in a hotel until another plane comes to fly them to Amsterdam. That plane will bring a team of certified technicians who will determine why the smoke appeared in the cabin, the chief of transport at Zagreb Airport, Drago Skrlec, told the media.

Two women passengers have received medical attention for smoke inhalation. They have quickly recovered and are accommodated in the hotel with the other passengers, Skrlec said.

There was no fire in the cabin.
