Religious services were held throughout Croatia on Saturday evening and Sunday morning to celebrate Christmas.
In the Zagreb Cathedral, both Christmas Eve Mass and Christmas Day Mass was conducted by Archbishop Josip Bozanic.
"With renewed faith and hope, and with our eyes upon the small child in the manger, let us live true to our Christian calling. Let us be the leaven and salt of this world, spreading joy and peace everywhere. Let us renew our bonds of trust, mutual respect, understanding and solidarity in our homeland, Croatia," Bozanic told the congregation on Sunday morning.
Among those attending Christmas Eve Mass in the Zagreb Cathedral were Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Vladimir Seks, Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic and Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic.
Christmas services were also held among Croatian Catholic communities in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
