Bebic made the announcement while speaking to reporters at a conference called "New forms of communication with the public", where he said that the Croatian Parliament was opening its profile on the Internet social network Facebook.

Bebic said he would contribute his proposals on Facebook from time to time, but not often because he would not be involved in politics any more.

Answering questions from the press, Bebic said he would not run in elections any more, adding that he would devote his free time to viticulture and olive and clementine growing.

Bebic denied media reports that Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor had forbidden members of her HDZ party to quarrel with President Ivo Josipovic.
