US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Pristina on Wednesday for her first official visit to Kosovo.

Immediately on arrival she met Kosovo acting president Jakup Krasniqi, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci and Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni.

Clinton was greeted by several thousand people, waving Kosovo and US flags, along the road from Pristina Airport to downtown Pristina.

Upon arrival in the central city square, Clinton visited the 3-metre-tall statute representing her husband Bill, erected as a sign of gratitude for his efforts to end the war in Kosovo.

After talking to top Kosovo officials, the US Secretary of State is scheduled to meet with representatives of Kosovo women and visit Gracanica, a predominantly Serb populated municipality near Pristina, recently established under the Martti Ahtisaari plan for Kosovo Status.
