After the deadline for the submission of election slates expired at midnight on Monday, the State Election Commission (DIP) reported that a total of 315 candidate lists had been submitted, including 286 party slates (205 independent and 81 coalition lists) and 29 independent slates.
Forty-nine candidates submitted slates for Constituency No. 12, which is designated for ethnic minorities, of which 42 are identified by political parties and 7 are independent lists.
Sixty-three political parties submitted their slates to DIP.
The submission of lists of candidates for members of Parliament and their deputies started on November 1, the day after President Ivo Josipovic called parliamentary elections for December 4. That deadline expired at midnight on Monday.
After receiving all candidate lists, DIP will start checking in the morning if they are valid, and the valid ones will be published in the media in the next 48 hours, that is, by midnight on Wednesday.
Making the slates public will mark the start of electioneering, which will end 24 hours before parliamentary elections, at midnight between December 2 and 3, when a media blackout will be imposed, to last until the closing of polling stations at 7 pm, December 4. The media blackout for out-of-country voting will last from 2400 hours on December 2 to 1900 hours on December 4.
DIP officials have said that election commissions will count ballots within 24 hours at the latest from the closing of polling stations, namely by 1900 hours on December 5.
