Protesting farmers in eastern Croatia, who began their demonstrations on Monday, continued a road blockade at an intersection in Ferovac on Wednesday.

Leaders of this group of farmers refused to go to talks in Zagreb on Tuesday. On the other hand, 26 associations of farmers and cattle breeders reached agreement with Agriculture Minister Petar Cobankovic in Zagreb yesterday.

After the meeting with the non-protesting farmers, Cobankovic said the agreement was about the payment of incentives for crops in the amount of HRK 1,950 per hectare. He said the first part of the incentive, HRK 900, was already paid, while the second part would be paid by the end of April.

The meeting, which discussed how to unfreeze farmers' accounts, legalise agricultural facilities, farmland, capital investments, and prices of blue-dyed diesel fuel awarded to farmers and fishermen, was described by the minister as constructive.

Cobankovic cancelled his meeting with the disgruntled farmers in Ferovac on Tuesday morning due to his busy schedule.

The demonstrators in Ferovac and in some other areas demand the payment of the full amount of grants by the end of the month, the payment of money owed for capital investments, the rescheduling of all loans, and cheaper blue-dyed diesel fuel.

Protest leaders said they would stay on the roads until their demands were met.
