"At this moment no official decision has been made by the government concerning Petrokemija. However, we are talking about everything and we believe that it (privatisation) can be good for Croatia, for the overall economic situation in the country. This is an obligation we have, our responsibility and job we will do. There are things that will not be privatised, things that are our strategic resources, such as the JANAF company, oil and gas pipelines, waters, forests, power distribution, etc. On the other hand, there are companies on the market. They can be candidates for a quality privatisation process, strategic partners which can bring the capital and the know-how. But I repeat, no decision has been made. Before a decision is made, a detailed report and study would be drawn up for each of the areas in question," the T-Portal news website quoted Milanovic as saying.

Worried by media reports about the alleged government's plan to sell its stake in Petrokemija, the trade union representing workers in the energy, chemistry and non-metal sectors (EKN) sent a letter to top state officials on Sunday, demanding answers concerning the privatisation of the Kutina-based company.

Petrokemija's management informed the Zagreb Stock Exchange today that it had no information or any facts about the company's privatisation, other than the media reports.
