The campaign for the coming local elections will cost coalition and all other parties less than ever, Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on Monday in the Podima business zone near the central coastal town of Sibenik.
"The rules are such now", Milanovic said and explained that "this way was the cleanest and cheapest for everyone". He added that from 2007 to 2009 one party spent millions of euros and no one said how and why.
The prime minister was responding to reporters who were curious why so many ministers from his cabinet were visiting Dalmatia in the week ahead of the local election.
"There's always a lot of ministers in Dalmatia, particularly in Split", Milanovic said, adding that in his opinion ministers spent too much time in Dalmatia and should be more in Zagreb. The PM said that the frequent ministerial visits to Dalmatia were "not timed" and that his visit was part of the campaign.
He told reporters that compared to the situation in 2009 and the government in power then, today there are many projects which could have ribbon-cutting ceremonies, but that he was not one to visit construction sites.
