Theatre Night, which starts in the early hours and goes on late into the night, will be held on 17 November in about 30 towns around Croatia with more than 80 theatres opening their doors to the public for free or at a discount price, the Culture Ministry announced on Friday.

This year the event has been enhanced with Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia following Croatia's example, in addition to Serbia, Montenegro and Hungary. All in all, 90 cities and 200 theatre companies will present around 300 plays.

Part of the manifestation includes a photo competition for the best photograph taking during the theatre festival, offering a prize of 1,000 kuna.

This traditional theatre event is sponsored by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the City of Zagreb Office for Education, Culture and Sports, along with the Zagreb Tourist Board.
