The president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Zoran Milanovic, said in the northern Adriatic town of Opatija on Thursday evening that people in Croatia are protesting primarily because they feel a deep injustice, stressing that politicians must convince people that not all politicians are the same.
People are protesting because of a deep injustice, dishonesty and violation of elementary rules on which a society must be based,” the leader of the strongest opposition party said. He added that after looking at injustice and theft for years, people have decided to take to streets.
"To make the situation better, all of us in Croatia must agree on new, firm rules of a game. It is Croatia’s objective to be a small and successful European country. We can make this happen,” he said.
He said he expected Croatia to enter the European Union in a year and a half, “possibly sooner if we are smart enough”. "We will not point the finger at anyone if we are late a month, by the end of the year we will come to the place where we belong,” he said.
