Robert Jezic, owner of Dioki Holding AG which is the majority owner of the Dioki d.d. petrochemical company, has resigned as a member of Dioki's Supervisory Board and his resignation will become effective on February 23, the company said in a statement published by the Zagreb Stock Exchange on Monday.
Jezic made the decision because he is currently unable to carry out his duties as a member of the Dioki Supervisory Board, the statement said.
Jezic has been in investigative custody because there are fears that he could tamper with witnesses who are yet to be interviewed by investigators of the anti-corruption agency USKOK about illegal dealings between the state-owned power supplier HEP and Dioki.
Jezic, former HEP CEO Ivan Mravak, HEP Opskrba manager Ivan Mrljak and former prime minister Ivo Sanader are held responsible by USKOK for the sale of electricity to Dioki below market prices, whereby HEP was defrauded of 6.3 million kuna.
Jezic was arrested on December 9.
