On Saturday, the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) led a convention on equal regional development and the organisation of local government. On that occasion, HSS leader Josip Friščić said that his party was and would be a partner of the coalition government led by Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor
PM Kosor, the chief of her Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), who attended the event, said that their cooperation was excellent. The basis of this cooperation is mutual respect in every moment, notably when tough decisions are made, she added. HDZ presidential candidate Andrija Hebrang as well as independent candidate for the next Croatian president, Milan Bandic, addressed the convention. Hebrang said that he was sure that their cooperation would be steady in the future, too, when he would become the new Croatian president. Bandic said he felt comfortably among HSS members as being with his like-minded colleagues.
