Croatia's state-owned electricity provider Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) on Monday submitted a request to the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (HERA) to approve a 10.7% reduction of the production component of the electricity price for households and if the reduction is approved, this could mean a 6-7% reduction in the end price, HEP said.

Once HERA makes its decision, HEP will inform the public of the new prices for households and when these will apply, HEP's press release says.

HEP reported earlier that it would respond to offers released in mid-June by Slovenia's GEN-I and the German RWE Energija providers which offered lower prices for electricity compared to HEP.

"We will certainly be actively involved in the market competition. We will certainly reward our loyal clients and offer them new packages with various offers. That can be expected in the future", HEP's CEO Tomislav Seric said then.
