The President of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party, Jadranka Kosor, began a tour of Constituency No. 6 on Friday by visiting Utrine Market in south Zagreb where she spoke with dozens of citizens who gathered at the HDZ's election stand.
When asked by reporters if everything was ready for the signing of the accession treaty with the European Union, Kosor said she had received an invitation from European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to attend the signing ceremony, scheduled for December 9.
"Everything is ready and I'm looking forward to it," Kosor said, noting that she would sign the accession treaty with a fountain pen which was presented to her as a gift last year by Pope Benedict XVI.
"The ink has been bought and everything is ready for that great, important and historic event," Kosor said.
Kosor was accompanied by senior party officials, including several government ministers. After Utrine they were travelling to Velika Gorica, Petrinja, Kukuruzari, Hrvatska Kostajnica, Sunja and Sisak.
Constituency No. 6 covers the southeastern part of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, and Sisak-Moslavina County.
