Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic has said that she opposes the withdrawal of the genocide lawsuit against Serbia, which Croatia has filed with the Hague-based International Court of Justice, if the issues of people gone missing in the war, plundered property and war crimes are not settled.
"I am not in favour of dropping the lawsuit unless the three fundamental issues are solved: missing people, plundered property and war crimes," Pusic told a news conference in Zagreb on Tuesday.
She said that the efforts to solve those outstanding issues would be met with considerable opposition from both sides.
Keeping a low-intensity conflict is of no use for citizens but is of use for political elections, Pusic said after presenting the beginning of the campaign for the 22 January referendum on Croatia's admission to the European Union.
As for a schedule of her visits to the region, Pusic said she would agree with Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on the matter and added that the implementation of the border dispute arbitration agreement with Slovenia was one of the priorities.
The spokesman for the foreign ministry said that Pusic might meet her Slovenian counterpart Samuel Zbogar in Brussels on 10 January.
