Extreme cold hits Croatia

Siberian-like temperatures, with –18 degrees Celsius in the eastern city of Slavonski Brod, and -17 degrees in Gospic in the region of Lika, hit Croatia on Monday morning after this past Saturday the whole of the country had been stricken by heavy snow that disrupted traffic. On Sunday, it was reported that one person froze to death in Lika.

According to the national weather service, extreme cold will continue in the coming days.
