The European Film Days, an event taking place in Zagreb, Rijeka and Pula from 2 to 9 May, were inaugurated with the screening of the Italian "Terraferma" film about immigrants, at the Metropolis cinema theatre at the Museum of Contemporary Art in the Croatian capital on Wednesday evening.

Formally opening the days, Croatian Culture Minister Andrea Zlatar Violic thanked the organisers of the event: the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia and Cultural Club, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the French Institute, the Italian Institute for Culture in Zagreb and the Danish and Dutch Embassies in the Republic of Croatia.

The films will be shown in three cinema theatres in Zagreb and in Art-Kino in Rijeka and Valli Kino in Pula.

"The programme of the European Film Days will include screenings of 'Terraferma' (Italy), The Heineken Kidnapping' (Netherlands), 'Piran – Pirano' (Slovenia), 'My Best Enemy' (Austria), 'A Family' (Denmark), 'Partners' (France) and 'Albert Nobbs' (Ireland), the EU Delegation reported.
