The fifth multinational Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT), to serve in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, was seen off on Wednesday at the Pleso barracks in Zagreb, where simultaneously a welcome ceremony was given for members of the 7th Croatian army contingent returning from the NATO-led peace mission in Kosovo, the Croatian Defence Ministry said.

The OMLT that left for Afghanistan will be training members of the Afghan national army and it is made up of 15 members of the Croatian Armed Forces and 12 members of the National Guard of Minnesota. The commander of the joint OMLT is Colonel Zoran Hemetek. The team will spend nine months in the Regional Command North, headquartered in Mazar-e-Sharif.

The 7th Croatian army contingent returning from the peace mission in Kosovo had 20 members and it was the first contingent to spend six months in Kosovo, instead of three as before.
