The NATO summit to be held in Chicago on Sunday and Monday will focus on the member-countries' long-term policy on Afghanistan, the Smart Defence concept and ways to strengthen partnership networks worldwide.

The summit in Chicago, the biggest in NATO's history, will be attended by representatives of some 60 countries and organisations.

Among the participants are Croatia's Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic and Defence Minister Ante Kotromanovic.

Croatia joined NATO on 1 April 2009.

The Chicago summit will not be an enlargement summit because NATO expects more substantial reforms in countries aspiring to join the alliance, but it will confirm its open door policy.
