Spain will start the process of ratification of Croatia's European Union accession treaty in its lower house of parliament on Thursday, the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Vesna Pusic, said in Madrid on Tuesday after talks with her Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo y Marfil.
"The minister said he could see no problems with the ratification of Croatia's accession treaty, but wanted to know how Croatia saw its role in the region after its accession to the European Union," Pusic told the press, according to a statement issued by her ministry.
Pusic said they had also discussed the EU's financial future and measures to be taken in the process of its financial stabilisation, as well as the situation in the Southern Mediterranean and the Middle East, with emphasis on the situation in Syria.
