President Ivo Josipovic voted in Croatia's seventh parliamentary election shortly after 9 am on Sunday at a polling station in Zagreb.
Josipovic said he was confident a new government would show determination and take the necessary measures to overcome the economic crisis, expressing hope that cooperation with a new government, regardless of who may win the election, would be even better.
Asked about his cooperation with the outgoing government, Josipovic said that sometimes it was good while at other times it was not as good. "I hope that cooperation with a new government would be even better," the president said.
The president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Jadranka Kosor, voted in Croatia's seventh parliamentary election on Sunday morning at a polling station in Zagreb.
Kosor told reporters she was confident Croatian citizens would vote for those who will continue to fight corruption and be at the helm of the government when Croatia joins the European Union.
Asked if she was optimistic, Kosor said she was 'full of will, desire and optimism because she was confident that good always wins'.
The president of the of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and candidate of the opposition bloc known as Kukuriku coalition for prime minister in a new government, Zoran Milanovic, voted at a polling station in Zagreb on Sunday morning.
He told reporters he expected to opposition coalition to win the election. Reporters wanted to know how Milanovic will spend the election day. He said the first part of this Sunday he would dedicate to his family, sports and music, adding that he would be working on the other half of the day. He stressed if the Opposition coalition won the election, he would start working immediately.
