Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Gordan Jandrokovic met in Bydgoszcz on Monday with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who congratulated the Croatian government on the completion of accession negotiations with the European Union and said Poland would be among the first to ratify Croatia's accession treaty, the Croatian foreign ministry said in a press release.
Sikorski said he was pleased with today's opening of a Croatian consulate in Bydgoszcz, his home town, to be headed by Honorary Consul Henryk Maciejewski.
Sikorski and Jandrokovic said Poland-Croatia ties were excellent and friendly.
Jandrokovic highlighted Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's recent visit to Zagreb to present his Croatian counterpart Jadranka Kosor with the English-language version of the accession treaty.
Jandrokovic said Croatia appreciated Poland's support during the EU entry talks and its efforts to have the treaty signed in December, during its presidency over the Union.
He added Croatia was interested in Poland's experience in the use of EU funds.
The two ministers also discussed the current situation in Southeast Europe, with Jandrokovic reiterating that Croatia supported the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of all countries in the region.
