Parliament discusses sending more troops to Afghanistan

The Croatian parliament is discussing the government proposal to increase the Croatian contingent participating in the ISAF peace mission in Afghanistan by sending another 20 instructors , thus raising the number of Croatian troops participating in the mission this and next year to 320.

Currently, Croatia has 300 soldiers in Afghanistan with a possibility of rotation.

Proposing to parliament to approve the decision on the participation of the Armed Forces in the peace mission, Defence Minister Branko Vukelic said that by sending its troops, Croatia would make contribution to building stability in Afhanistan.

A total of 44 countries are taking part in the NATO mission in Afghanistan.
