One person was injured in a strong explosion shortly after midnight in west Zagreb, police reported, adding that the explosion could be heard all the way in downtown,

The explosion took place at the intersection of Aleja Bologna Street and Gospodska Street at 0006 hours.

All available units are on the site investigating the cause of the blast, police said.

Railway and road traffic in that part of the city is shut down.

This is the second explosion in two days in this part of the city after an explosive device went off on railway tracks near the Podsused railway station early Wednesday morning.

The person injured in today's explosion was taken to a hospital but their injuries are not life threatening.
