At the end of May the number of unemployed people registered with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) fell by 3.3 percent on the month to 298,719, the HZZ reported on Thursday.
In May, the number of unemployed Croatians was 0.8 percent higher than in May 2010. The annual rise in the unemployment rate decelerated from 8 percent in January to 0.8 percent in May.
Women accounted for 53.6 percent and men for 46.4 percent of the jobless population.
In May, 74,035 jobless Croatians, or one quarter of all unemployed people, received unemployment benefits.
