We expect Brussels to state its positive opinion in the next several days about the restructuring programmes for three remaining Croatian shipyards - 3. maj, Kraljevica and Brodotrogir, Croatian Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship Minister Djuro Popijac said after Wednesday's meeting with representatives of unions representing the three shipyards.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Petar Cobankovic, Finance Minister Martina Dalic and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Bozidar Kalmeta.

It was concluded that the process of securing conditions for closing the policy area Competition Policy in Croatia's EU entry negotiations was nearing the end, Popijac said, adding that jobs and social peace in the shipbuilding sector would be preserved.

We clearly defined the role of the state by taking over the debt and discussed how to implement the incentives the shipyards will receive once the restructuring programmes were adopted, Popijac said.

The president of the trade union association, Ozren Matijasevic, expressed satisfaction with Wednesday's talks, saying there were no more obstacles for Brodosplit to implement the contract for building a ship with Jadroplov.
