Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic on Wednesday announced amendments to the constitution that would abolish the statute of limitations on politically motivated crimes which was initiated by the Sabor, adding that removing the statute of limitations on these crimes was a civilisational gesture.

"This is something that I believe is good and inevitable", he told reporters, adding that it was finally time to draw the line to the past.

He considers that the statute of limitations on politically motivated crimes is a totally inappropriate institution.

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic announced amendments to the Constitution after the law on cooperation with EU member states on criminal matters was recently amended stipulating that the European Arrest Warrant applies only to crimes committed after 2002.
