German Chancellor Angela Merkel pushes for Croatia's accession to the European Union and together with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Berlin on Thursday commended the progress Croatia has made on that road, German electronic media said after the meeting.
We concluded that there is evident progress in Croatia, Merkel told a joint news conference.
Germany is very open and is looking forward to Croatia's accession to the EU, she said, adding that now it remained to be seen if the European Commission's evaluation would be enough for the accession.
Orban said the accession of Western Balkan countries was an important task of the EU and praised the German support to Croatia as voiced by Merkel.
