The president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Tomislav Karamarko, said on Wednesday evening that the case of HDZ secretary general Milijan Brkic who allegedly plagiarised his final thesis at the Police Academy, was unfairly being "blown out of proportion" by the media and politicians.

Karamarko told Nova TV commercial television that it was not yet established whether Brkic indeed plagiarised bis thesis, stressing that his departure from parliament had nothing to do with plagiarism accusations against him.

Karamarko reiterated Brkic was engaged in the preparations for the local elections as president of the HDZ election committee and his leaving the parliament was the result of an agreement.
