The presidency of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Monday dissolved its branch in the City of Zagreb.

HDZ chief and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor told a news conference that thedecision on dissolving this branch had been made after an analysis of itsperformance at the last local elections and the Croatian presidential polls aswell as due to the fact that a part of the branch membership had not supportedits president Jasen Mesic.

In response to statements from the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), ajunior partner in the ruling coalition, that it would monitor the government'swork and decide on whether it would stay or leave the coalition next autumn,Kosor said that such remarks were unacceptable.

"It this is so, then I can see no reason to wait for the autumn,"Kosor said calling on HSLS representatives to present their arguments atcoalition meetings, if they are dissatisfied with her cabinet's performance, rather than expressing their dissatisfaction in the media.
