The ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Monday responded to a press conference by the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), saying its claims, that the government was not implementing any measure from the Economic Recovery Programme, were untrue and that the HSLS was uninformed, given that the PM today presented another measure expected to cut costs by HRK 350 million (approx. 47.3 million euros).

The HDZ issued a statement saying it wanted to "draw attention" to the many "untrue and incorrect" things said at today's HSLS news conference.

"The HSLS claimed today that the government is virtually not implementing any measure from the Economic Recovery Programme, which is a lie, and the course of the Economic Recovery Programme is available on the government's website and every citizen can check its implementation broken down by measure," said the statement.

"That the HSLS is totally uninformed is also confirmed by the fact that at today's round-table debate at the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor presented another economising measure - combined public procurement - which will cut costs by about HRK 350 million."

The statement stressed that the government, and the HDZ as the strongest party in the ruling coalition, was open to cooperation with those who wanted and had something to say about attracting investments and opening new jobs, but that they should be informed about the course of "active measures" the government was implementing.
