The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko said on Thursday that a ratification of the 1999 agreement on border demarcation between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina would require two thirds of votes of members of the Croatian parliament, and added that the HDZ would vote against that agreement signed by the then Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, the HDZ founder, and the Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic.

Answering questions from reporters before the HDZ main committee's meeting in Zagreb, Karamarko said that this opposition party would be against the Tudjman-Izetbegovic agreement, explaining that the HDZ wants to develop good relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The entire problem must be solved in a good mood and a good atmosphere between the two friendly countries," Karamarko said.

He added that many Croatian experts hold that the territory (in Mali Ston Bay) is Croatian beyond doubt and urged the government to take into consideration those expert opinions before moving the ratification of the agreement.

Speaking of the HDZ activities Karamarko said that the party was being consolidated and reported an influx of 4,000 new members.
