The Czech Senate is expected to vote on Croatia's European Union Accession Treaty next week and the Czech parliament's House of Representatives is expected to vote on it soon as well, the chairman of the Senate's foreign policy committee, Jozef Regec, said in Zagreb on Friday.

He informed Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic that the Treaty ratification procedure in the Czech parliament had already begun and that the Senate's foreign policy committee had already discussed it, the ministry said in a press release.

Pusic thanked the Czech Republic for its continuous support to Croatia during the EU accession process, hopeful that the Czech parliament would ratify the treaty as soon as possible.

She said Croatia had made considerable progress in the building of state institutions during the accession process and that it was willing to share its experience with the other countries in the region with European prospects.

She said the stability of Southeast Europe was one of Croatia's strategic interests and expressed an interest in cooperating with the Czech Republic in the transfer of EU accession experience to the countries in the region.

Members of the Czech committee said they were satisfied with the position of the Czech national minority in Croatia and thanked the Croatian government for its support for the work of the Ceska Beseda association and the Czech People's Home.
