At its closed session on Friday, the Croatian government decided to send a Canadair firefighting plane and soldiers to Israel as humanitarian aid.

The government made the decision after obtaining consent from President Ivo Josipovic.

The CL415 866 aircraft and Croatian soldiers will be sent to Israel to put out fires.

Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic extended their condolences to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman on Friday following a forest fire that killed 41 people in Israel.

The Croatian government officials also offered their sympathies to the families and friends of those killed in the disaster, which occurred in the Carmel Mountains near the northern city of Haifa on Thursday.
