The head of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Radimir Cacic, said at a press conference on Tuesday that the government's economic recovery programme did not contain a single bad measure, but stressed that the present government was unable to implement it.

Cacic said he was concerned that the implementation would be coordinated by Finance Minister Ivan Suker, whom he considers unsuccessful and incompetent.

Cacic said that the government should make it clear which projects would be prepared and launched on foreign markets and within which time frame.

"The assertion that the state of the Croatian economy should be blamed on the global crisis and that we are all equally responsible is a deception and demagogy," the HNS leader said.

"Fifteen people spend our money uncontrollably and incompetently and say that they are not to blame, but that the responsibility is general and that they are only 'creating a framework'. Let them stick to their framework and give us back the 124 billion kuna they take from our pockets annually," he added.

Cacic gave credit to Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor for stating for the first time "a series of unpleasant truths we have to face."

"She won't be able to deal with them, but she nevertheless identified them, unlike her predecessor Sanader who claimed there was no crisis," Cacic said.
