Alexander Scrymgeour, who chairs the Croatian-British parliamentary friendship group, said in Zagreb on Thursday that the British parliament would commence the process of ratification of Croatia's Treaty of Accession with the European Union this autumn.

Earl of Dundee told a news briefing during his visit to Croatia that the time for considering and discussing Croatia's accession treaty would be in the autumn.

Lord Dundee praised Croatia's action plan and expressed his conviction the ratification of the document would be conducted simply and smoothly in the British parliament.

He warned that there were still some obstacles to be overcome regarding the policy chapters Nos. 8 and 23: Competition Policy and Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, which require efforts to surmount those problems.

We all believe that this will be settled. We are looking forward to having Croatia as the 28th member of the European Union, thanks to your specific features which you will bring to us once you join the bloc, he added.

The visiting British parliamentary delegation also includes, Baroness Diana Eccles of Moulton, who is a member of the House of Lords, and Joe Benton and Nigel Adams from the House of Commons. The delegation was today received by Croatian Parliament Speaker Boris Sprem and will visit the city of Sisak on Friday.
