Fisheries state secretary Tonci Bozanic said on Wednesday evening that the new regulations on fishing area boundaries are not contentious, adding that the external borders of the fishing area do not change or prejudge the state border in the Bay of Piran.
The Slovene opposition has demanded that Slovenia officially protest against Croatia's new regulations on fishing area boundaries, because they state that the sea border passes down the middle of Piran Bay, would not affect the border arbitration procedure agreed by both countries.
According to the Slovenian news agency STA, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said that the regulations constituted a "unilateral move" by Croatia, but that they would mean nothing for the tasks of the arbitral tribunal.
