This year the Dubrovnik Summer Festival will attract over two thousand artists from around the world who will feature in more than 130 plays, musical performances, operas, ballets, folklore performances and other events, a press conference was told on Thursday.

The festival's director, Ivana Medo Bogdanovic, said that the 64th Dubrovnik Summer Festival had a budget of HRK 12 million which should ensure a rich, diverse and good programme.

The festival will officially open on July 10 with the raising of the festival flag on Orlando's Column and will continue over 47 days at twenty different locations around the town.

The drama section will be launched in the City Town Hall with a play, "Allons Enfants". The musical programme will mark the 200th anniversary of the births of Verdi and Wagner.

A rich accompanying programme will back up the main events, including a literature night and several art exhibitions.
