Croatia's State Attorney's Office (DORH) said in a statement on Wednesday that the national anti-corruption office USKOK had requested documentation in the Pfizer case, following media reports that Croatian doctors had been among those who had received bribes from the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer to prescribe its drugs.
"USKOK has asked the relevant judicial authorities of the United States of America to provide documents about the Pfizer case and the bribery of doctors in Croatia. It has requested copies of the lawsuit against Pfizer and the settlement agreement the company signed with the US judicial authorities, as well as documents based on which US prosecutors issued the indictment and documents relating to the bribery of doctors in Croatia," the statement said.
According to media reports, Pfizer has agreed to pay USD 60 million to settle charges that it gave bribes to doctors in several countries, including Croatia.
