Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci has said that Serbia has neither moral nor political nor legal rights to resolve the issue of Kosovo. Thaci made the statement in Zagreb on Tuesday prior to a meeting with Serbia's Prime Minister Ivica Dacic scheduled for Wednesday in Brussels.

The plan to resolve the Kosovo question must be an all-European effort as that is the only was to solve this matter, Thaci said at a joint press conference after meeting with Croatian Premier Zoran Milanovic.

The status of Kosovo was resolved once and for all with the proclamation of independence, Thaci said responding to journalists whether he would accept any plans on Kosovo's future that may come from Belgrade.

He added that Belgrade has to refrain from any parallel security structures it has established in Kosovo as a remnant of Slobodan Milosevic's politics and that light must urgently be shed on the fate of 1,800 missing Kosovo Albanians.

Prime Minister Milanovic said that Croatia fully supported dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and that Croatia could be an objective mediator if it was trusted by both sides.

He added that he hoped that authorities in Belgrade would act reasonably and pragmatically during talks with Pristina.

Croatia will support Kosovo's path toward the European Union (EU) along with other countries in the region who have these aspirations, Milanovic said.

He added that he had spoken to Primer Minister Thaci about the situation in the region and relations and stability within the region and that economic matters would be discussed at a joint lunch.

He pointed out that Croatia wanted to have good relations with Kosovo and Serbia and that he hoped he would be able to visit Kosovo soon.

Prime Minister Thaci rated relations with Croatia as excellent and was grateful for the support Croatia was offering Kosovo and in particular for being one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo.

Thaci also held talks with Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko, who said Croatia supported the democratic processes in Kosovo, NATO's role and the presence of EULEX.

He welcomed Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and Kosovo's participation in regional initiatives.

Thaci said Croatia's membership of NATO and soon the EU was the best encouragement to the countries in the region, adding that in the next constitutional amendments, the Croatian minority would have its representative in the country's parliament,

Thaci also said Kosovo's independence had brought peace and stability to the region.
