The Serbian Security Information Agency (BIA) has warned Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic that it obtained information that certain criminal groups were intending to cause a failure on the government's airplane, which Dacic was taking back to Serbia after his official visit to Ireland, the Belgrade-based media cited the Serbian Interior Interior Ministry as saying on Thursday evening adding that the ministry's press release was labelled "urgent".
The statement said that those criminal groups planned to cause a malfunction on the government's airplane, with the help of people who have access to it, during the travels of president, prime minister, and first deputy prime minister.
The malfunction would cause partial damage, and after taking off, would lead to a plane crash, but it would not be possible to determine that the malfunction was caused deliberately, as the airplane recently had several malfunctions, the press release said.
After talking with the plane crew, the Serbian PM decided to fly back to Belgrade on Thursday evening with the same plane.
Dacic landed safely in Belgrade around 2120 hours. He told the press that in the future, the government aircraft would be under a 24-hour surveillance.
