Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday that Serbia, if it did not "express its being in love" with the European Union, would probably be pulled by the sleeve not to go the other way, describing as the worst message that EU enlargement stopped with Croatia.

"We now have a demarcation line and it is the worst and most horrible message that the EU has stopped at Croatia. We have the Christianity demarcation line and we know this line very well. I don't know if demarcation between Europe and the Ottoman Empire is the message for the stabilisation of this region," Dacic said in a statement carried by the Beta news agency.

He said Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro were also "on the agenda."

Dacic said the Kosovo issue was solved for many European countries but not for Serbia, adding that Serbia must solve as soon as possible the problem regarding Europe and Kosovo and call things by their right name.

"The problem of Serbia's EU membership is our relationship towards what they call the state of Kosovo," he said, adding that the EU should tell the terms and that the Kosovo issue should be cleared, as "this kid-glove treatment isn't good for anyone."

Serbia does not manage the international order and must therefore sustain the smallest damage possible in all this, trying to see if an agreement with the EU leaders is possible, said Dacic.
