Vladimir Seks said on Saturday that as the acting president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) he took over transcripts from the President's Office which referred to the work of the HDZ and that records were made about that takeover.

"As the HDZ's acting president I was called to the President's Office by the President's Chief of Staff Ivica Kostovic and I arrived together with Ivo Sanader, who at the time was a member of the HDZ Presidency. On behalf of the HDZ, I took over the documents which referred to the work of the HDZ," Seks told Hina.

He added that the said transcripts referred exclusively to the talks which the then President of the Republic and HDZ chief, Franjo Tudjman, held with various HDZ officials. The transcripts that referred to the Tudjman family were taken by Miroslav Tudjman, Seks said.

He stressed that he delivered the said transcripts to the HDZ, reiterating that records were made about the takeover.

Seks declined to comment on claims former President Stjepan Mesic made in a text in today's issue of Novi List daily.

In the text, Mesic described as a blatant lie the claim that upon beginning his term at the Office of the President he took over all the documentation of his predecessor, noting that those documents, "including the famous transcripts", were kept in different places all over the office.

A portion of those transcripts, Mesic said, was taken by Seks.
