The trial of former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, charged with war profiteering in the Hypo bank's approval of a loan to Croatia in the mid-1990s and with graft in the MOL-INA case, continued before the Zagreb County Court on Wednesday with the testimony of Branko Radosevic, a former director of Plinacro, the state-owned Croatian gas transmission system operator.

Sanader arrived to the court from his home after he was recently released from custody on bail.

Radosevic testified about meetings that focused on the divestiture of the gas business from INA, a leading Croatian oil and gas group.

He said that former Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec had presented a divesting model at those meetings. Polancec used to be under investigation together with Sanader on suspicion that they abused their powers to enable Hungary's MOL to have a dominant position in INA but he was cleared of suspicion just before the indictment in this case was issued.

Sanader is charged with having received 10 million euros in bribes in order to make it possible for MOL to have the dominant role in INA and to see to it that the loss-making gas business be divested from INA.
