Former prime minister Ivo Sanader and his wife arrived in Split on Saturday to visit his sick mother.

Sanader is expected to stay in the southern coastal city not more than three days, because he must be back in Zagreb by January 10 as ordered by the Zagreb County Court. On January 5, the court gave him permission to travel to Split for private reasons.

Sanader is on trial in several corruption-related cases. In mid-December, he was granted a provisional release from custody after posting HRK 12.6 million (EUR 1.68 million) bail. He handed over his passport and promised that he would not leave his place of residence without permission. He has to report to the investigating judge every first Monday of the month.
