A regional peace camp for young activists from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is taking place in the Homeland Defence War's Memorial Centre in Vukovar from 14 to 20 August, with some 70 participants taking part in the event.

Camp co-ordinator Vanja Nedic said on Sunday that activists from Vukovar, Tuzla, Srebrenica, Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje and Sombor had gathered in that eastern Croatian town for this occasion.

The objective of the project is to build peace, understanding and tolerance and establish dialogue and connections between young people in the formerly war-stricken areas, Nedic said.

The project "Vacation from War " was launched in 1994 and is being financed by the German Committee for Basic Rights and Democracy (Komitee fuer Grundrechte und Demokratie).
